The Grand Slam in one trip is a good headline and a tight bet: ten consecutive days, four massifs and no margin if the weather closes in for two of them. Splitting it in two changes the whole equation.
Southern block: Ronda and Sierra Nevada
The two Andalusian ibex are hunted a couple of hours from Málaga, in the Serranía de Ronda and the Sierra Nevada. They are the easiest to reach for anyone flying from the Americas, and the easiest to pair with a non-hunting program for a travelling companion. A week is ample for both.
Eastern block: Beceite and Gredos
Beceite — the largest-bodied, in the Puertos — and Gredos — classic high country west of Madrid, with horse support on the tops — make up the second trip. It is the physically harder block and the one that most rewards not being rushed.
Why this cuts the risk
By not requiring all four seasons to coincide, each block sits in its best moment of the year instead of in the one shared gap. That means better capes, more concentrated males and quota that has not yet been allocated. And if one trip goes wrong, the other is untouched.
The order matters
We recommend starting with the southern block. It is the most accessible, it calibrates you to the rhythm of Spanish mountain stalking, and it leaves the harder block for when you already know what you are walking into.

Frequently asked questions
- Can both be done in the same season?
- Yes, with a few weeks between the two trips. One per season also works very well, and is what most hunters do.
- Do you hold the quota for the second block?
- The second block can be booked when the first is closed, which is advisable if the goal is to complete the slam.
- Can I add another species to each trip?
- Yes. The eastern block pairs with mouflon or wild boar, and the southern one with Barbary sheep or a montería if you travel between October and February.
